The village is headed by a ketua kampong, which is assisted by JKKK (village committee). Like other villages in Bario, Pa’ Umor community is very friendly, warm-hearted, accommodating, generous and kind. It is basically a Kelabit Christian community with a cute little church, which is the centre of community activities.

Most of the villagers earn their living through subsistence farming, growing paddy, vegetables, pineapple, fruits, raising chicken and buffaloes, making salt, operating homestays and tourist guide services. Furthermore, the forest and the river which are just in the backyard of the longhouse, offer wild meat, fresh fish and vegetables for food and cash.
